DC330 / DCOATE / LABELSPRINT
The DC330 Converter
In-line or off-line converting in a single unit
Key advantages of the DC330 finishing solution
• OUTSTANDING VERSATILITY thanks to a modular platform that can be customised with the exact applications you need.
• ERGONOMICAL CANTERLIVERED DESIGN. Easy web-up, cleaning and maintenance with the modern one sided station mount.
• MINIMUM WASTE design. Die dials in within one rotation. No station movement or mechanical setup needed.
• MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY through the ability to handle 50.8-546 mm / 2"-21" repeat lengths.
• REMOTE CONTROL interface for the Xeikon and HP Indigo digital presses.
• GRAPHICAL TOUCHSCREEN shows the machine configuration, spindle directions and web-up.
• SERVO DRIVEN WEB TENSION CONTROL ensures a wide substrate coverage.
• CONVERTING PARTNER TO PUNCH GRAPHIX / XEIKON. Many local offices & local agents ensures a broad support world wide
As digital label printing becomes increasingly widespread, label printing houses are realising the need for all-in-one digital printing systems that provide fully finished, value-added label solutions.Grafisk Maskinfabrik answers this need with the DC330 a complete converting and finishing unit created especially for use with digital label printing presses. The DC330 Converter can be set up as an in-line extension to a digital label printing system allowing the web to continue directly onto the converter from the digital printer. The DC330 Converter can also beused as an off-line converting and finishing unit for jobs from other digital presses or conventional presses. It even functions as a printing press for specialised value-added solutions.
DC330 Stations

The flexographic station
The flexographic printing station can run as a full flood varnish station or as a spot varnish in register to the pre-printed web. The DC330 can carry several flexographic stations if both spot varnish, spot glue and flood varnish is needed. A sleeve system is offered to cover the complete range of print repeats. The drying system fitted is of the superior "cold" UV type that requires no external exhaust and performs well on heat sensitive substrates. The varnish station applies a high gloss finish and offers excellent protective characterisitic to the printed web.

The lamination station
The lamination station can be used to laminate a thine film onto the web. The film can be self adhesive or glued on with glue applied in the flexostation. Self adhesive files with a carrier are supported. Some thin films (like "CrystalClear") does not have a carrier and offers a almost varnish like effect. The glued (wet laminate) solution offers a very cost effective way to apply laminate. Laminate offers superior protection and can provide a food approved barrier.

Super gloss
Super gloss is a term used to describe a process where the flexographic station applies a full flood varnish. The varnish is the laminated with a very thin film (1&2) and UV dried (3). The film is then pooled off (4 & 5). This leaves a very high gloss UV lacquered finish to the web. The film can be reused up to 3 times on each side. The process is very common on high quality labels.

Cold foil
A digital press can not print gold or silver. Cold foil can apply the effects by gluing a metallic foil onto the web. The flexographic station prints a UV curable adhesive in the designed image on to the web. The cold foil is unwound and nipped together with the web. Both webs are then passed under the UV lamp. After the UV lamp the foil is "stripped" from the web and rewound. This leaves the areas were the adhesive has been printed to be covered with the metallic effect. A useful option for pharmaceutical cosmetic type of applications and applications that can not handle the heat from hot foil. Quality wise cold foil can not out perform hot foil but the costs are lower.

Semi rotary die cutting
The semi rotary die cutting unit is designed to accurately die cut the pre-printed web. The stations register system will react to each labels position and compensate for any misprint (repeat spacing) problems that are seen on semi-rotary digital presses. The station has a 25" magnetic die as standard but can use many sizes including dies from other presses. The repeat range is 2"-22". The flexible die offers a very quick and simple job change. After a plate change the die station will automatically re-register the die to the print. After the die cut process a strip roller removes the matrix from the web. It is rewound on a waste spindle with an optional compression bar. A special clutch ensures easy and trouble free stripping

Slitting and rewinding.
The slitting station can be with shear (rotary) knifes or crush knifes. Shear knifes offers a finer cut and no dust problems. The alternative crush knifes are quickly adjusted and good enough for most label applications where the backing paper is a waste product. The converter offers a dual rewind spindle for the finished rolls of labels.
The DC330 converter offers a wider range of extra options: Sheeting module, Stork RSI silk screen printing, Semi-rotary hotfoiling, semi-rotoray embossing, extra varnish stations, de-lam/re-lam option & more.
